Scientific Innovations

The Emergency Bandage, or the “Israeli Bandage,” is the first field dressing that can be applied and secured with one hand to prevent bleeding from hemorrhagic wounds caused by traumatic injuries in pre-hospital emergency situations.

  • An “Anti-Date Rape Straw,” developed by two Israelis at Tel Aviv University was designed to detect the two most common date rape drugs placed in drinks and alert intended victims. 

  • Babysense, an Israeli invention, is a non-touch, radiation-free device that prevents crib death by monitoring a baby’s breathing and movement during sleep.

  • Taliglucerase Alfa, a drug developed in Israel and designed to treat Type 1 Gaucher's disease, won approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in May 2012.

  • ReWalk, designed and developed in Israel, is a bionic walking assistance system that enables paraplegics to stand upright, walk and climb stairs.
