About Hillel at

Temple University

OUR MISSION

The mission of Hillel at Temple is to connect and inspire students to make an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning, and community.

OUR VISION

The vision of Hillel at Temple is for Jewish students to graduate with robust Jewish identities so they may live active Jewish lifestyles and feel a strong connection to the Jewish people.

WHAT WE DO

OWLS FOR ISRAEL

We view Israel as an important tool for building Jewish Identity. Our Owls for Israel leaders host social gatherings to build and encourage the pro-Israel community on campus. Students involved with Owls for Israel learn and curate nuanced educational content that presents Israel as a deeply complex and diverse society.

SHABBAT & HOLIDAYS

Hillel at Temple has the unique ability and responsibility to provide familiar Shabbat and Holiday programming, while also embracing innovative ways to make Jewish traditions relevant to all of our students. Temple Hillel is a community of communities, and our weekly, free Shabbat dinners serve as a place for all corners of our community to gather together.

JEWISH EDUCATION

Our students attend Temple University to help shape their lives. Temple Hillel’s role in their educational journey is to shape their values. Our educational programming creates opportunities for exposure to our tradition, ritual, and texts to encourage students to embrace the Jewish practice of asking questions.

TZEDEK: JUSTICE

As a community and campus partner, we take our role seriously in repairing the world. We know that social justice and community service are important tools to engage Jews. Jewish values are at the forefront of what we aim to teach our students, and they gain great insight while practicing good deeds for the community and pursuing social justice.

SOCIAL

Building relationships with our students and careful attentiveness to their needs is at the core of everything we do at Temple Hillel. Social programs are low-barrier opportunities for students to interact with and connect with one another. We know that these bonds can be an incredible source of support (and joy!) during the college years and often turn into lifelong friendships.

WELLNESS

Given the times we live in, wellness is more important than ever. We believe that a significant component of wellness and self-care is to engage with community.
