Learn with Hillel: Our Jewish Education Classes

  • Jewish Learning Fellowship: JLF 1

The Jewish Learning Fellowship (JLF) is a paid, one-semester fellowship in which you will deepen your understanding of Judaism, meet new people, and explore big ideas. This class will explore some of life’s big questions, including those related to community, commitment, friendship, and intimacy. We will try to explore the often complex questions with which we are faced upon our arrival at college in a way that enables us to find our own answers, but also to ask even more big questions. Our approach is open-minded and non-judgmental.

  • Jewish Learning Fellowship "Home & Homeland": JLF 2

This class introduces students to the animating ideas of Jewish national identity and guides students on a journey to reflect on what role Israel plays in their own Jewish identity journey. Using contemporary, biblical and rabbinic sources, as well as some of the leading thinkers of the moment, this curriculum invites students to begin to explore and uncover some major questions about their relationship to Israel as an aspect of a thoughtful Jewish adulthood.

  • PARSHA

Held weekly on Thursdays, Rabbi Levitt invites Temple University students to learn about the weekly Torah portion and discussion its meaning as well as how it applies to their everyday lives and choices.

  • Israel Learning Fellowship

An eight-week learning opportunity for students to learn about different aspects of Israel, exposing them to the different cultures that make up Judaism within Israel.

  • Owls for Israel

Taught by our Israel fellow, Avezu, this 8- week program invites students to discuss the trials and tribulations for modern-day Israel, discussing about anti-Semitism throughout it’s short history.
